Dual Blades

The Dual Blades (DB) move fast and hit fast. Unleashing both Demon and Archdemon mode amplifies the DB's effectiveness in hunts.

Demon and Archdemon

The Dual Blades have 3 different modes: normal, Demon and Archdemon:

R2 switches between Demon mode and normal mode. In Demon mode, attack damage, attack speed, and movement speed are enhanced. However, stamina is consumed while the Hunter is in Demon mode.

Activating Demon mode

Demon mode can be cancelled out of by tapping R2 or putting the weapon away. Demon mode also automatically reverts back to normal mode when the stamina bar is empty.

Landing attacks in Demon mode will fill up the Demon Gauge. A full Demon Gauge activates access to Archdemon mode:

When the Demon Gauge is full, Archdemon mode will replace normal mode. Cancelling Demon mode will put the player in Archdemon mode instead of normal mode.

Archdemon mode is active as long as the Demon Gauge does not fully deplete. Continue landing attacks while in Demon mode to maintain the Demon Gauge and prevent it from being fully depleted.

Combat Tips

  • Demon mode gives a faster dodge and stronger attacks, but drains stamina.
  • Archdemon mode consumes Demon Gauge instead of stamina. Effectively switching in and out of Demon mode is critical in preventing the Demon Gauge from fully depleting.
  • As long as the Demon Gauge does not fully deplete, the player will be able to stay in Archdemon mode.
  • Use Demon Flurry Rushes to reposition quickly while maintaining damage output.
  • Dual Blades' fast attacks are very [[effective at dealing Elemental/Status damage|damage#elemental-value]] quickly.
  • Dual Blades' naturally quick attacks deplete [[Sharpness|damage#sharpness]] much faster than other weapons, so be prepared to use Whetstones more frequently.

The player can activate Demon Mode in the middle of any move.

Mid-air attacks are done in the air, such as after hopping off a ledge, jumping off a vine, or climbing up a wall and jumping off.
