Equipment

Hunter equipment is separated into the following categories:

  • Weapon
  • Armor
  • Charm
  • Decoration Jewels
  • Specialized Equipment

The Hunter also has the [[Slinger|slinger]] and [[Scoutflies|scoutflies]], which are both great assets in a hunt.

Acquiring Equipment

Equipment can be acquired in the following ways:

  • Purchase starter weapons and armor from the shop
  • Forge and upgrade weapon/armor at the [[Smithy|facilities#smithy]]
  • Forge and upgrade charms at the [[Smithy|facilities#smithy]]
  • Forge decorations with the melding pot

Crafting and Upgrading Equipment

A majority of the equipment in MH: World is acquired from crafting and upgrading. Some equipment can be bought, but bought equipment is restricted to starter weapons and armor.

Most weapons cannot be crafted directly, but have to be upgraded from other weapons. Some weapons can be crafted directly, but require more materials than creating it by upgrading from an existing weapon.

Armour upgrade cost Armour Sphere(s). Low rank armour cannot be upgraded into high rank armor.

Weapons, armor, and charms can come with up to 3 Decoration slots for Decoration Jewels. Higher rarity equipment usually have more slots and better slots.

Blademaster Weapons

The following are Blademaster weapons:

Blademaster weapons come with the following attributes:

All Rarity A relative scale describing the difficulty in acquiring the weapon
All Attack Attack power of the weapon
All Level Number of upgrades the weapon has received
All Element/Status The Elemental/Status value of the weapon (if any)
All Sharpness Sharpness bar of the weapon
All Slot The number of slots available for Decoration Jewels
All Affinity The likelihood of performing a critical hit
All Defense Defense of the weapon (if any)
Hunting Horn Notes The 3 melody notes of the Hunting Horn
Gunlance Shell and Shell Lv Shell Type and Level of the Gunlance
Switch Axe Phial Phial type of the Switch Axe.
Charge Blade Phial Phials for the Charge Blade.
Insect Glaive Kinsect Kinsect paired with the weapon
Insect Glaive Kinsect Bonus Bonuses received by Kinsect when paired with this weapon

Gunner weapon

The following are Gunner weapons:

Gunner weapons come with the following attributes

All Affinity The likelihood of performing a critical hit
All Defense Defense of this weapon (if any)
Bowgun (both) Reload Reload speed of the Bowgun
Bowgun (both) Recoil Recoil incurred when firing a Bowgun shot
Bowgun (both) Deviation The direction a Bowgun shot deviates when it is fired
Bowgun (both) Ammo Ammo compatibility and clip size
Bowgun (both) Mods Mods applied to the Bowgun
Heavy Bowgun Special Ammo Rechargeable Special Ammo
Bow Element The Elemental value of the Bow (if any)
Bow Coating Bow Soating that the Bow can use

Armor

An armor set ususally comprises of 5 pieces: the Head, Body, Arm, Waist, and Legs. Armor pieces made from the same monster fall under a family or "series". Wearing all 5 pieces from the same series is commonly referred to as a "Full Set", while mixing-and-matching armor pieces from different series/monsters is commonly referred to as a "Mixed Set".

Armors come with the following attributes:

Attribute Description
Rarity/Rare A relative scale describing the difficulty in acquiring the armor piece
Level Number of upgrades the armor piece has received
Defense Defense of the armor piece
Elemental Resistance Elemental Resistance of the armor piece
Slot The number of slots available for Decoration Jewels
Skill(s) Skill(s) innately available from wearing the armor piece

Charms

Charm contains [[skill(s)|skills]] and are equipped in the Charm slot. Only one Charm can be equipped at one time. Charms are forged and upgraded at the [[Smithy|facilities#smithy]]. Charms can be upgraded to have more skill points.

Decoration Jewels

Decoration Jewels contain [[skills|skills]]. They can be slotted into Weapons, Armor, and Charms, as long as they have empty Decoration Slot. Decorations and equipment slots both have levels from 1 to 3.

Higher level decoration jewels contain more powerful skills. Slots can be filled with decorations of the same level or lower. For example, a level 2 decoration cannot be added to a level 1 slot.

Equipment can have up to 3 Decoration Slots. Multiple Jewels can be equipped and equipped Jewels can be removed and swapped out for other Jewels.

Decorations are rewarded randomly after completing high rank quests.

Specialized Tool

The player can carry 2 additional pieces of equipment called [[Specialized Tools|specialized-tool]]. These can be used from the item menu.
